Dan is the owner of Wrisley Abrasives, a privately owned company that provides high performance diamond and CBN tools to the following industries: Aerospace, Defense, Glass, Crystal, Medical, Bearing, and Technical Ceramics. Dan is considered by his professional peers to be expert and thought leader in the superabrasive tooling field. As the core business of superabrasive tooling continues to grow and new products are frequently introduced, Dan works with his clients to design and engineer custom applications and also offers training seminars to educate engineers on the latest machining techniques to grind hard materials efficiently. Dan specializes in superabrasive tooling designed for a wide range of materials including sapphire, silicon, Inconel®, Monel®, Gorilla® Glass, Zerodur®, Nitinol, Spinel, and several other especially hard materials. Projects include grinding aircraft engine components, missile domes, heart stents, cell phone/tablet faceplates, military-grade windows, and precision optics to name a few. Dan is an active member of the American Precision Optical Manufacturers Association (APOMA).
Prior to taking ownership of Wrisley Abrasives, Dan worked as a Production Engineer and Sales Engineer at Amphenol TCS (formally Teradyne Connection Systems). As a Production Engineer, Dan was responsible for both the facility development and manufacturing process to produce high-end Internet core routers and switches. Sustaining production at this facility exceeded $40M, annually. As a Sales Engineer, Dan managed Amphenol TCS’ largest account at the time, Cisco Systems – contributing more than $100M in annual gross revenue. For two years, Dan coordinated Design Engineers, Supply-base Engineers, Senior Executives, and factory workers to help bring Cisco Systems’ new products to market.
Dan earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology at the University of Maine in 2000. While at UMaine, Dan served as the President of the student chapter for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Dan also held an intership as a Process Engineer at Mead Paper Company.
Dan currently resides in Simsbury, CT with his wife, Keeley, and two children, Brenner and Addison. He enjoys an active lifestyle and plays and/or coaches several different sports including basketball, baseball, and golf. Dan is also an active volunteer – contributing time to the Urban Alliance, a non-profit charitable organization benefiting the greater Hartford, CT community and since 2004, organizing the annual Bruce Wrisley Memorial Golf Tournament which had generated over $25K for educational scholarships, the American Heart Association, and the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
